ASEL CMC LV

LOW VISCOSITY CARBOXYMETHYL CELLULOSE DRILLING GRADE

ASEL CMC LV is an API drilling mud which is flown into the drilling pipes to give suitable flow properties, to carry the drill chippings to the surface, to improve water retention of muds and to prevent excessive penetration of drilling liquids into the surrounding. ASEL CMC LV is well known cost-effective API fluid loss reducer.

Use of Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) in the Drilling Industry

The drilling industry is a field that requires advanced technical equipment and the use of various chemical additives to access underground resources. One of the most critical chemicals used in this process is Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC), which plays a crucial role in increasing the viscosity of drilling fluids and balancing their rheological properties. At Acıselsan, we contribute to the industry with our high-quality CMC production that meets the challenging demands of the drilling sector.

What Is the Role of CMC in Drilling Fluids?

Drilling fluids perform multiple tasks during drilling operations, such as creating the borehole, cooling the drill pipes, transporting rock cuttings to the surface, and protecting the formation walls. Proper adjustment of these fluids’ viscosity and flow properties is essential for safe and efficient drilling operations. The role of CMC here is to increase the viscosity of the fluid and optimize its flow behavior. CMC reduces surface loss of the drilling fluid and increases the drilling rate.

What Are the Performance Benefits of CMC in Drilling?

The use of CMC in drilling fluids provides numerous advantages that enhance the efficiency of drilling operations. Key benefits include:
Viscosity Control: CMC increases the viscosity of the drilling fluid, helping it remain more effectively in the wellbore. This allows for better control during drilling.

Water Loss Reduction: CMC minimizes the water loss of the drilling fluid. As a result, the surrounding rock and soil formations are better protected, contributing to borehole stability.

Surface Loss Reduction: By improving the fluid’s viscosity, CMC helps control its flow and reduces surface losses. This translates to lower fluid consumption and reduced operational costs.

Thermal Stability: High temperatures can occur during drilling operations. CMC is resistant to heat, helping the fluid maintain its properties even under high temperatures. This ensures effective performance under challenging thermal conditions.

Eco-Friendly and Cost-Effective Solutions

As a biodegradable and environmentally friendly raw material, CMC minimizes environmental impacts during drilling operations. Minimizing environmental harm during the extraction of natural resources is one of the industry’s top priorities. The CMC products we produce at Acıselsan are favored in the sector due to their environmentally conscious nature and economic viability.
